INFO ON OUR EXHIBITION BUDGIES

*We are breeding our Exhibition Budgies to produce show quality babies.

*We are showing our Budgie babies when they are 6 months old or older. Usually after the first molt.

*Once we deem an Exhibition Budgie not show worthy or breed worthy of show babies (for what we are striving for), they become pet worthy & we will  tame them down again & post them to our Facebook page in the photo section (album is titled "Available Birds")  & here on our website in the "Available Birds" section.

*At this time, we do not sell show quality birds. We have to get established with our show birds  first.

*We will also be taking cull birds from other show breeders (with their knowledge) & taming them down to hand tame. These birds will be cheaper than our own raised babies but they will be tame enough so that you can handle them. They will require a little bit more work. All we will do is hand tame them, teach them step up & than send them off to their new homes. The rest is up to you (bonding, trust, tricks, etc.).

EXHIBITION BUDGIE INFO (WHAT WE'VE LEARNED)

*The word CULL means that a bird is not show quality or breed quality to that breeder. The reason is because that breeder is looking for certain characteristics that a specific bird may not have (in the bird show world). Cull also has another meaning (Google it). Show Breeders will often refer to their Exhibition Budgies that do not carry specific characteristics as CULL birds. They will sell these birds off to keep from breeding certain characteristics they do not like and to make room for birds who do have the characteristics that the breeder is looking for. You will usually find a show breeder(s) birds at bird marts for sale. This helps a show breeder keep certain unwanted genetics/characteristics out of their aviary, by selling them off.

*Exhibition Budgies are larger than a parakeet (aka American Budgie).

*Exhibition Budgies can be calmer & easier to handle.

*Exhibition Budgies & American Budgies AKA Parakeets are the same. Exhibition Budgies are just more domesticated & look like a Parakeet on steroids. American Budgies aka Parakeets are the wild side.

*Exhibition Budgies seem to have shorter life spans. Is it possible that too much inbreeding & messing with genetics over the generations could have impacted the life span of these beautiful budgies?

*Feather Dusters (Horrible result due to possible inbreeding & reduction of genetic diversity. Not scientifically proven but considered likely by researchers.) See link below.
