Photographer Research 3- Trent Parke

Trent Parke is an Australian Street Photographer who is known for his architectural landmarks and is the only Australian photographer to be represented by Magnum. His portfolio consists of a selection of coloured and black and white photos in which symbolise nature and street art; which is mostly around Australia.

Someone like Trent is an ideal architect to look at and to see how photographers have captured his work to produce such detailed photos. The main features in which I find the most inspiring about his work is the variety in colours and also the location since its focused on his own country Australia. This compares to my own project idea since the focus is ‘Sense of Place’ in which Trent clearly shows. I will be taking my own photos in London where I grew up along with fitting to the theme of the Architecture also. He inspired me to take photos close to home and ones that mean something to me; just like Australia did to him.

Overall, Trent Parke is a photographer who I admire when producing my own portfolio of photos due to his use of colour and also location. The location adds purpose and meaning behind his photos along with the mixture of dark and bright colours to make his collection unique.
