The 722 Edition of the SLR was unveiled in 2006, with the 722 S introduced as its open-topped counterpart at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The number designation is a nod to that worn by the 300 SLR race car piloted by Moss and his navigator Denis Jenkinson to a record-setting Mille Miglia victory in 1955. This example is finished in Crystal Galaxite Black Metallic and features upward-opening butterfly doors, an anthracite convertible soft top, xenon headlights, integrated fog lights, heated side mirrors, twin side-exhaust outlets behind each front wheel, a rear diffuser, dark-tinted taillight lenses, and an electronically deployed rear spoiler air brake.
