Vallisneria nana, the little white knight

January 9, 2010

So I’ve had a flower spike from one of my Vallisneria nana bunches for a few days, and its finally decided to start flowering. It sent up a little spike, and at the end there were two nodes, and at each node about 5 flower buds poked out.  Each flower lasts for about a day before its stem curls back down into the water.  Its got 3 white petals, and has a very faint sweet aroma.  Not nearly as nice as some other flowers I’ve gotten out of my aquariums, but its a new one for me.
