Roblox to premiere new Bakugan series ahead of Netflix/Disney XD

Spin Master will initially drop two lead episodes on its Roblox hub, doubling down on its previous launch strategy for the franchise.

Spin Master Entertainment might be “revamping” the look of its popular anime franchise Bakugan this fall—but what isn’t changing is its approach of using Roblox as a launchpad.

The first two episodes of Bakugan (in English and Japanese) will premiere on August 4 in Gamefam’s All-Star Tower Defense Roblox game—a month before the show’s TV rollout gets underway. Netflix is launching the full season on September 1 in the US, Canada, Australia, the Nordics and the Middle East. And kidsnet Disney XD will start airing the new episodes in the US on September 23.

Interestingly, Roblox is also playing a role in supporting a new line of Bakugan toys launching tomorrow that include tokens kids can redeem for accessories and power-ups in Roblox game Bakugan Battle League

Launching in Roblox aligns with Spin Master’s approach to leaning into the collectible aspect of Bakugan that fans love, said EVP and global chief marketing officer Jeremy Tucker in a release.

In 2021, the company streamed a single episode of previous reboot Bakugan: Battle Planet‘s third season on Roblox, ahead of its Netflix launch. Then last year, the complete first season of the anime rolled out on Spin Master’s Bakugan Roblox hub.

The Bakugan franchise centers around creatures who fight it out under the leadership of young battle brawlers. New series Bakugan will feature a 10-foot-tall Bakugan for the first time. This is the second reboot after Bakugan: Battle Planet, which launched in 2019 and ran for five seasons.
