Q:
Does the wall between pit and front orchestra seats impede the view if one is sitting in Row A or B? The stage looks high (so hard to tell from photos). Do you have to look up if you are sitting in the first few rows? Thank you!

An amazing concert hall, that's the center for music, dance and orchestra events. Established by industrialist George Eastman and opened September 4,1922. With over 2,000 seats it's home to the RPO, Eastman concert series, jaws fest shows , comedy acts.
Beautiful interior design that is just such a downtown treasure. Renovations in 2004 were much needed and appreciated.Helpful 11Thanks 2Love this 8Oh no 0 - Nov 27, 2021
What can I say... One of the reasons why I love Rochester is that it's a city of music, dance and art! We are so fortunate to have such great institution that offers a wide variety of performances. If you haven't been to Kodak Hall during the holiday season to enjoy some wonderful performances, then it's never too late. Check their calendar and get your ticket now!!

Spending time in this beautiful space never gets old! From RPO concerts to Eastman SOM performances to Jazz fest to Fringe, this venue has seen its fair share of amazing performances and excited audiences. I remember my first trip (3rd or 4th grade?) pretty vividly, and especially remember the tour guide speaking about the busts on each side of the hall. That feeling of awe and being transported never really goes away, as Kodak Hall feels like a magical walk through time.
I've taken in concerts and comedy performances from every angle, but have a certain preference for sitting at the orchestra level, though it does depend on the concert. I know many patrons are partial to the loge or balcony for acoustics, but really there isn't a bad seat in the house, and there are typically very reasonable prices (or free prices!) on all offerings. I look forward to taking in beautiful shows here for the rest of my life!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Jun 27, 2019
I have been to this theatre many times, last night to see Jeff Goldblum performing at the Jazz Festival. It is downtown and pretty easy to find, parking is easy, garage next door, or street lots. The theatre itself is just beautiful, the architecture and details are incredible to look at alone. The acoustics are pretty good, my hearing is not that great, but I can always hear everything fine. They do serve drinks, and staff are polite, informative and helpful. Overall I like going here to see shows, it's a wonderful place to see on it's own, add in a show, dinner downtown, and you have a great night.

It is a beautiful space and I definitely recommend attending at least one Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra event in your life. This event was in honor of women's suffrage and included reenactments of interviews with local influential women. It was a great time.

A stunning venue and piece of architecture that has so much value beyond measure for downtown Rochester. The RPO performances and concerts alike have made this a destination worth visiting. The beauty of the building is boundless -- stellar design, rich history, and eye catching details from every angle.
I've seen a few shows here including Norah Jones at the Jazz Festival and a recent RPO performance. I now have even more drive to see a few of the holiday shows coming up. The sound is impeccable and I haven't sat in a bad seat yet with great views from the stage anywhere in the hall. It's amazing to see this space used for different purposes and valued by the community.
Parking in convenient with access for event parking at the lot on the corner of Gibbs and E. Main or the East End Garage.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Nov 2, 2014
Kodak Hall is a beautiful theater that houses the RPO and the Eastman Concert Series among other performers.
I have been there a few times but, today as part of the Series Arturo Sandoval gave a magnificent concert with his band. Each one of the band members are virtuosos in their own right.
Sandoval mastery goes beyond his trumpet playing. He demonstrared his mastery at the piano, acoustic keyboard, timbales, capella acoustics, and even sang.
It was an afternoon to learn, enjoy and remember forever. He mesmerized the audience.
At the end he was mobbed by the adoring public that was demandong pictures, autographs and his attention.
Bravo Maestro!!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Michael R.Rochester, NY14933137Apr 20, 2015
What an amazing venue for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra!
Getting to the theatre is easy because I live downtown and can walk. For those who are Suburbites and afraid of parallel parking or not sure what a No Standing sign is... rest assured that there is plenty of open lots around, a parking garage, and the scary street parking. Plan time for travel, you are in the city so there are people, but the Kodak Hall is on East, Main, and off Chestnut and not right off any exit.
So the hall was beautiful. Laid out a little strange. There are many doors available for entry, but not all open to the box office. The entrance on Main, to the left is where the box office is.
Once you enter the Hall you will be amazed. A beautiful, huge chandelier. Ornamental stylings of some of the greatest composers. Comfortable seating. Huge velvet curtains and a great view from any seat.
So whether RPO or for another event, you definitely need to see this crown jewel of Rochester.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ryan B.Fairport, NY1104Jun 26, 2018
Iconic. Timeless. A stunning venue to watch a concert in any time of the year. The acoustics are wonderfully balanced. An absolute must for anyone visiting Rochester, NY.

A super venue that is centrally located - a real gem. I've been here for many RPO, Eastman School of Music and Jazz Fest Concerts - too many to count. I think we've even seen some comedians here - Seinfeld? If you can afford it avoid the balcony since the upper reaches are far from the stage, though acoustically fine, it feels too removed. I always like the Loge level since it feels more intimate given the smaller number of seats. But then again, there really is not a bad seat in this beautiful hall.
