A Garden of Eden of Sorts

alfabia_gardens.jpg

Mallorca is not only a paradise for nature lovers, but is also renowned for its plentitude of marvellous gardens. It is widely acknowledged that the art of irrigation was brought to the island by the Moors, during the 11th and 12th Century.

A fine example of a splendid garden are the gardens of Alfàbia, going back to Moorish origins in the 13th Century. Well worth your visit.

The photo was chosen from my archive. It was taken in the Jardines de Alfàbia, on the road between Palma de Mallorca and Sóller. The date: October 15th, 2005. The time was 10:31:35.
