Description

Ludwigia brevipes is a species of flowering plant in the evening primrose family, Onagraceae. It is commonly known as the “short-stalked water primrose” or “yellow water primrose”. It is native to North America and is found in wetland habitats such as marshes, swamps, and along the edges of ponds and streams.

Ludwigia brevipes is a perennial herb that grows up to 1 meter tall. The leaves are typically oval-shaped and can vary in size from 1 to 8 cm long. The flowers are bright yellow and have four petals that form a cross shape. They bloom from June to October.

In the wild, Ludwigia brevipes provides important habitat and food for a variety of wildlife, including insects, birds, and mammals. It is also commonly used in aquariums as a decorative plant. However, in some areas it is considered invasive and can quickly colonize waterways, crowding out native plant species and altering the ecology of the area.
