Danica Patrick is “cool” with being single at this stage in her life.
“I think that turning 40 and being single … I was in a lovely relationship for a year and that ended in January, the beginning of the year,” Patrick told Fox News in an interview published on Tuesday.
“To sort of step into my next decade alone was like, wow, OK. That kid ship might be sailing. I have no plans for my birthday right now because I’m now all of a sudden alone.”
Patrick confirmed her split from ex-boyfriend Carter Comstock in March, the same month she celebrated her milestone 40th birthday.
“There were some of those feelings of sadness in a way,” the pioneering driver said. “But I also love being able to be spontaneous and spend time with my girlfriends and go on trips. My life these days is like a jigsaw puzzle that I’m fitting together [with] work trips and play trips. So I’m going to focus on that. And when the right guy comes along, I’ll know it.”
Danica dated Comstock — a co-founder of Freshly, a meal-prep company — for a year before they called it quits. She went public with the romance last spring by posting a photo on Instagram that featured the pair getting cozy at the beach.
Later on in the interview, the “Pretty Intense” podcast host said she “feels really good” after undergoing surgery in April to remove her breast implants. That same month, Patrick said in a post on Instagram that she believed her medical complications through the years were caused by her implants.
“I had cycle irregularity, gained more weight, my hair wasn’t looking healthy at all and my face was a different shape (weird I know),” Patrick wrote, listing a bunch of symptoms she said were discovered from a range of medical tests, including, hypothyroidism, heavy metal toxicity, severe leaky gut, adrenal fatigue, temperature sensitivity, face swelling, weight gain and hair loss.
Patrick opened up about the “emotional work” that came with her difficult experience with breast implants in a separate Instagram post in May.
Patrick previously dated Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for two years before they split in July 2020. Rodgers and his ex, actress Shailene Woodley, called off their engagement in February.
