The Annandale Kmart, 4251 John Marr Drive, is closing for good, employees were told Aug. 28, according to a story in the Annandale Blog. The last day is Nov. 18. Liquidation sales are anticipated.
An Aug. 24 announcement by Sears Holding, the owner of the Kmart chain, that 46 unprofitable Kmart and Sears stores will be closing in November does not list the Annandale Kmart. However, a company spokesperson confirmed that that store will be added to the list.
The company stated: “As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline Sears Holdings’ operations, strengthen our capital position, and focus on our best stores, this week the company informed associates at 46 unprofitable stores that we will be closing these stores in November 2018. We continue to evaluate our network of stores, which is a critical component to our integrated retail transformation, and will make further adjustments as needed.”
