Sugar sumac or Sugar bush.
This plant puts out strange buds in November which sit on the plant without opening for months until April.
The leaves are about 2~3 inches long, usually pointed, sometimes serrated. In full sun the leaves tend to fold over the central vein — into something vaguely taco shaped.
In more open flowers, the pink color isn’t noticeable.
The berries are covered with sugar.
