Rudbeckia, 'Autumn Sunset'

(Rudbeckia hirta) Brian had wanted to grow Rudbeckias for the longest time and I kept poo-pooing them. For some reason, that I now cannot even recall, I had decided with a steadfast determination that they were unremarkable and thereby unnecessary. So wrong. And stubborn. I’m so glad I've been proven wrong! As with our other Rudbeckia, Prairie Sun, I love them! They are cheerful, bright, long-lasting in the garden and vase and keep on blooming and blooming through light frosts. This particular variety is 2-3’ tall and stunningly covered with long stems ranging from single (rarely) to double to almost mum like density 3-5” blooms in hues of gold, chocolate, burnt orange, bright yellow, mustard, and bicolors. While known to be a tender perennial in zones 9-10, they are certainly easy enough to start from seed year after year. Enjoy them!
