I thought of something during some EN VA dramas awhile ago but this Jamie Marchi situation just kinda confirms it. How much do you wanna bet a lot of "Localization" is the results of VA inputs? Like VA telling translators: I don't wanna say that or I wanna say this instead etc. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy or something. Just that these assholes communicate/hang around each other all the time due to work there's bound to be some kind of interference.
A frequent complain of mine with localization is that a single word or two in JP, or even just a noise gets turned into a full paragraph in English. The thing is those lines depend on the ACTING skills of the voice ACTOR to bring it to life, of which most EN VA in this industry got none (VA skills). I just imagine them going to the script writer like: "Yo dude, i can't read this boring shit man. Can't you just spice it up or sumthing?". So even if some translators want to translate correctly, they can't because the VAs can't deal with it.
