I'm unironically at such a point where I'm so fucking boiling blood-pissing angry at the way these literal nazis keep using "progressive" language to try and excuse their habitual bastardization/erasure of author intent and Japanese culture that I'm about to just start shit that even I won't walk away from unscathed. Author intent is sacred, you aren't allowed to change things made by it without their permission. That, and, white washing the scripts by inserting western culture where it does not belong is racist enough to make me seethe. I'm seriously about to fucking snap.

That's because they're narcissistically vapid people and know full well how easy they can be replaced. The threat of AI taking their jobs is real and is gaining momentum, so in their narcissism, they respond in the only way they know how: Making everything about themselves while using every buzzword on the planet.

And then you get them admitting shit like this with no effort:

Thanks for letting us all know that the people involved with "localizing" don't actually speak the language.

I thought of something during some EN VA dramas awhile ago but this Jamie Marchi situation just kinda confirms it. How much do you wanna bet a lot of "Localization" is the results of VA inputs? Like VA telling translators: I don't wanna say that or I wanna say this instead etc. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy or something. Just that these assholes communicate/hang around each other all the time due to work there's bound to be some kind of interference.

A frequent complain of mine with localization is that a single word or two in JP, or even just a noise gets turned into a full paragraph in English. The thing is those lines depend on the ACTING skills of the voice ACTOR to bring it to life, of which most EN VA in this industry got none (VA skills). I just imagine them going to the script writer like: "Yo dude, i can't read this boring shit man. Can't you just spice it up or sumthing?". So even if some translators want to translate correctly, they can't because the VAs can't deal with it.
