A road collapsed on Moseby Dr. in Manassas Park early Wednesday morning, trapping approximately 400 residents in 80 townhomes and 16 condominiums.

At this time, no injuries have been reported. One car was swallowed up in the washout, however, and a half a dozen more cars were damaged due to the water that rose about 4-6 inches up doorways.

The city of Manassas is helping establish a road behind the subdivision that backs up to Stonewall Park. Also, the city is creating a hotline for residents to directly communicate any needs with the city.

Laszlo Palko, the city manager for Manassas Park, said he was aware of an issue with the culvert that the city had been working to get addressed.

"We knew this was a long-term issue that had to be addressed, not just the culvert itself, but coming up with another option for residents to get in and out besides this one road," he said.

Palko said the city was not informed by engineers of the culvert area being an imminent threat to residents.

The city will provide more information later tonight. Stick with ABC7 News for the latest updates.
