Former Fairmont State basketball player arrested for being alleged ‘drug mule’ in Diddy investigation

MIAMI, Fla. — A former West Virginia basketball player has been arrested in a federal investigation involving rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Brendan Paul

Brendan Paul, 25, a former basketball player for Fairmont State University, was taken into custody at Opa Locka Airport in Miami, Fla. Monday as he attempted to board a private jet with Diddy.

A criminal complaint described Paul as a “drug mule” for Combs, who “acquires and distributes Mr. Combs’ drugs and guns.”

The New York Post reports Paul was booked on charges of possession of cocaine as well as suspected marijuana edibles. Both charges are felonies in Florida.

The drugs that were found in Paul’s bag Monday have not been linked to Diddy, according to an arrest report from Miami-Dade Police.

Diddy had his Beverly Hills and Miami homes raided by Homeland Security agents on Monday, with computer equipment and other evidence confiscated from the houses.

Diddy has denied all allegations against him.

According to Fairmont State’s website, Paul played for the Falcons for two seasons, playing in 35 games and averaging just under 8 minutes per contest. He came to Fairmont State in 2020 after transferring from Syracuse University.

Paul posted bond. His arraignment is set for April 24 at 9 a.m.
