Pen spinning, according to Wikipedia, is a form of "object manipulation" where one uses a pen, pencil, or other writing utensil and twirls it in various different ways. However, using regular pens and pencils aren't the best options for pen spinning. Most pen-spinners like to make pen mods, which are exactly what they sound like they are- modified pens that are tweaked and customized to make pen spinning easier for them. This article will teach you how to make a BICtory Pen Mod, which is a simple modification that requires equipment that can be bought virtually anywhere. The word "BICtory" is a portmanteau on "BIC" (a company which makes pens), and the word "victory." You will definitely feel victorious once you created this pen mod!

Steps

  1. Requirements- You need two BIC® "round stic®" pens. These pens can be bought virtually anywhere, from office stores like Staples to shopping websites like Amazon. You also need a chopstick or a handy tool for removing the tip off of the pen, and a pair of scissors to cut the ink tubes. We will discuss that later in this article.
  2. Take the caps off the two pens and then break the "clip" of the cap with your hand or the scissors.
  3. Take the "front part" (the tip that you write with) out of both pens. It should come off along with the ink tube.
  4. Remove the plug on the top of the pen with a chopstick. You can also use your teeth to bite off the plug. (NOTE: You only need to do this with one pen.)
  5. Cut off about 7 mm off of each ink tube with scissors. This is important so the ink tubes can fit easier.
  6. Now take the ink tubes and insert them into the pen with no "plug." They go in on each side. (NOTE: The tips may not exactly fit onto the pen. You might need to tape one of them in order for the tip to stay on.)
  7. That's what the finished mod looks like!

Take both of the pen caps and put them on.

Tips

  • You might need to tape one of the pen tips onto the mod, in case it doesn't fit.
  • You can use PaperMate Eagle pens and this guide to make a pen mod. It won't really be a "BICtory," but it will still work.
  • If you want to make your BICtory look more visually appealing, you could add grips and pen tips on top of the caps. A recommendation would be taking the grip and the pen tip off of two Zebra Z-Grip retractable pens. These pens should be available in most office stores (Staples, Office Depot, etc.), if not, you can get them online.
The grip and the tip of a Zebra Z-Grip retractable pen fits almost perfectly onto the caps of a BICtory.

  • You can write with your BICtory by removing the caps. It doubles as a decent pen mod and as a helpful writing supply!

Warnings

  • If you choose to use your teeth to remove the "plug," make sure you don't swallow the plug.
