Kirsten Dunst has the perfect reason to do another superhero movie
Sony Pictures Many remember Kirsten Dunst for her role as the comic book character Mary Jane in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movie franchise. She now reveals she’s willing to return to superhero movies for an admirable reason.
The first live-action iteration of the comic book character starred Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. When it came to Parker’s comic book girlfriend, Kirsten Dunst played the role of Mary Jane. She reprised the role for the following two installments. It was her only superhero-based movies in her career.
Since the movies, she has starred in Melancholia, Bachelorette, Hidden Figures, and Beguiled. She’s also scheduled to star in A24’s dystopian action movie Civil War set to release in 2024.
But Dunst has recently revealed that she’s willing to return to the superhero game but for a reason fans are applauding her for.
Kirsten Dunst is open to another superhero movie
The actor revealed that after returning from her acting hiatus, she’s willing to return to the superhero genre because it pays a lot of money and has people to support.
In an interview with Marie Claire, Dunst revealed, “Yes, because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother.”
The actor continued to explain that since her hiatus she’s been type-cast in more motherly roles. “Every role I was being offered was the sad mom … There’s definitely less good roles for women my age,” she explained.
With Spider-Man having been the franchise that made her a household name, it’s no surprise she’s willing to return. Fans have come to praise Dunst and her honesty behind the monetary reason for returning.
“She’s spitting facts. Most superhero movies are big budget movies and that means more money in your pocket. Get the bag Kirsten,” said one fan on X/Twitter.

Dunst saw blockbuster success having worked with Sofia Coppola in The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, and The Beguiled. The question is what role would the actor play? Could she return as Mary Jane or take the reigns as a never-before-seen on-screen hero?
