In October 2015, her representative confirmed that the 26-year-old was seeking "professional help at a treatment centre" to help battle the illness.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, she said: "I've gotten an incredible amount of support and I was actually really surprised cause I feel like I grew up in this industry that, in my mind, was very judgmental."

She added: "I didn't even look at social media. Then, when I looked, people were like, 'Oh my gosh, good for you,' and I am so proud to be a spokesperson and a woman that people can look to and to know that they're not alone and they're not weak if they go and they seek help."

Hayden was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Nashville. She lost out to <span class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap"><span class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap itxtnewhookspan">Constance Zimmer.

"To be honest it was kind of a rocky start for me and especially emotionally," she shared. "The first scene that I did the other day when I saw certain people that I haven't seen in a while and I felt really comfortable - I just lost it and I couldn't keep it together. So, it held us up for a second but we got it at the end."

Nashville star Hayden Panettierehttps://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/hayden-panettiere is seeking treatment for postnatal depression.

Her spokesperson has confirmed the news that she has checked into a facility to help her overcome depression following the birth of ten-month-old Kaya, her first child with fiancé Wladamir Klitschko.

Her spokesperson said: "Hayden is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment centre as she is currently battling postpartum depression. She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time."

The 26-year-old, who is dealing with a similar storyline in Nashville, previously insisted postnatal depression should be "talked about" more.

She said: "I can very much relate. It's something a lot of women experience.

"When you're told about postpartum depression you think it's, 'I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child' - I've never, ever had those feelings.

"Some women do. But you don't realise how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It's something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they're not alone, and that it does heal.

"There's a lot of misunderstanding - there's a lot of people out there that think that it's not real, that it's not true, that it's something that's made up in their minds, that, 'Oh, it's hormones.'

"They brush it off. It's something that's completely uncontrollable. It's really painful and it's really scary and women need a lot of support."

She once said that motherhood was an "out-of-body experience".

And now Hayden Panettiere has opened up about her battle with postnatal depression - while sending an inspirational message to other new mums.

The Nashville star welcomed daughter Kaya in December 2014, but the arrival of her first child left the 26-year-old battling depression.

In a game of '25 Things You Don't Know About Me' with Us Weekly, she said: "I suffered a bit of postpartum depression. You're not alone or crazy, ladies!

Luckily, she also revealed that her best friend had a baby around the same time. For fact number 17, she said: "Without planning it, my best friend and I had babies six months apart! Dream come true."

Meanwhile Hayden admits she and her beau Wladamir had never heard of each other before they met for the first time.

She said: "Wlad and I met at the launch of a charity coffee-table book. I had no idea who he was and vice versa."

Nashville star Hayden Panettiere has said that becoming a mother has been like an "out-of-body experience".

She gave birth to daughter Kaya - her first child with her fiancé Wladimir Klitschko - last December and since she welcomed her baby into the world she has re-prioritised her entire life.

The 25-year-old actress visited Good Morning America, and told viewers: "It's out of body ... As long as your kids are happy and healthy and all good - it's fabulous."

She then added: "You just re-prioritise ... You hear that they're healthy, and you just don't care about yourself any more. It's the most out-of-body experience, where you go, 'I will completely lay myself on the line for my child. Without even a hesitation.' "

The arrival of Kaya has had a similar effect on world heavyweight champion boxer Wladimir.

The 39-year-old previously said: "It has changed my life completely. I'm so happy to have Hayden in my life. She's the best mom I could even imagine. She's a true, amazing mom ... I think [having] children is something that connects you until the end of your days no matter what. And I think that, Kaya, our daughter, has connected us forever. And that's the most amazing thing. Everything else is coming, it's something that needs to be planned ... but the connection with the child is better than any marriage!"

We reckon a lot of new mums will identify with Hayden Panettiere - she said she feels like an "80-year-old woman" after childbirth.

The 25-year-old Nashville actress gave birth to her and her fiance Wladimir Klitschko's first child, Kaya, on 9 December, but the blonde star admits her body is still feeling the effects of her pregnancy and she is trying to work out which parts of her body will return to normal eventually and which won't.

She said: "I feel like an 80-year-old woman trying to go down the stairs, you know, please tell me this is temporary. But I know some things will never be the same again.

"I'm limping around. I'm still trying to figure out what [pregnancy] has done to my body, how it's changed it. What's temporary and what's permanent."

Hayden Panettiere admits her and the 38-year-old boxer's child is putting her "through the ringer" with her "insatiable appetite" but admitted she doesn't mind because her bundle of joy is so adorable.

She said: "She's really so sweet. I'm sure that's the way it's meant to be, because when they are putting you through the ringer you're like, 'You are so lucky you're cute!'"

Hayden and Wladimir are enjoying getting to know their little one but the actress was quite glad of a rest when the fighter's mother insisted on taking care of Kaya for a night.

"Wlad's mom was desperate to take the baby for a night. She looks like she didn't get much sleep, but I feel well-rested!

"[It is] such a surreal experience and so out of body. You're suddenly looking at this little thing like, 'Oh, that was you in my belly this whole time.'

"[We're] just getting to know her."

Speaking about her future with Klitschko in an interview with the May 2013 issue of American GLAMOUR, she expressed her desire to start a family.

"I've lived a very big life, and I don't feel my age, and I feel like I was born to be a mother," she said. She even joked about what her kids with Klitschko might look like on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in November 2013: "He's got bowlegs and I've got knocked knees, so they're going to have straight legs. And they'll be normal height."

No word from Hayden on the reports, so for now we'll congratulate her on this exciting news. Will the Nashville writers put in a pregnancy storyline on the show? If so, life's about to get a lot more complicated for Juliette Barnes.
