LONDON — Shakira will perform on an upcoming live show of The Voice UK on the BBC, producers have announced.
The music star, who became a coach on the U.S. version of the singing competition in 2012, will sing on the March 29 episode. Shakira will perform current single “Can’t Remember to Forget You,” which features Rihanna.
The live episodes start in March, with new coach Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs also having hinted that his band could perform live on stage later this season.
The third season of The Voice UK has continued to record solid ratings, with critics crediting the addition of Kylie Minogue as a coach this year. The other coaches are will.i.am and Tom Jones.
The singing competition’s January launch this year has helped it avoid competition from ITV hit Britain’s Got Talent with Simon Cowell. The first two seasons of The Voice UK began around Easter.
The Voice UK had a strong start to its first season, but the ratings dropped after the blind audition rounds with the format’s popular spinning chairs, allowing BGT to win out again.
