A brand new patchwork blanket using West Yorkshire Spinners 100% British yarn Croft Aran. Using the gorgeous colour pallet of WYS Croft Aran I've combined eight of them to create this super warm blanket kit. And yes it is knitted all in one piece, the borders are worked at the same time, so you cast off with the blanket complete.
WHAT IS INTARSIA?
You can see that one colour square is adjoining another, so how do you do this? The method is known as Intarsia. You cross over the two different coloured yarns on the wrong side of your work when finishing one and starting the next colour - see Picture. To hide the change of colour and to ensure the two squares are ‘joined’ correctly work as follows:
2. Pick up the new colour (duck egg), work the first stitch.
3. Tighten the last square’s yarn to avoid any gaps and ensure the first stitch in the new colour is pulled tight.
4. If you are working with the RS facing you, then the yarns should still be crossed over on the wrong side.
