"The Valley of Dry Bones"

"The Valley of Dry Bones"

We have heard this message preached a dozen times "The Valley of Dry Bones" We know from Gods word that he showed Ezekiel this dream or vision that God would breath life back into his chosen people. I was thinking from heaven is this what God see's a valley of dead dry bones? I want you to know that it doesn't matter what your past is, what you have done, or how bad you have talked down God. God loves you and he is a forgiving God but you must take the first step in asking God to forgive you of all your sins then daily continue this if you sin ask God to forgive you and give you strength over the matter. I would hate for God to look down at my home and see a grave yard but if we are not following God we are are just as dry as the bones spoken of in Ezekiel.  Ezekiel’s vision of the valley of dry bones (Ezekiel 37:1–14) came to him after God had directed him to prophesy the rebirth of Israel in chapter 36. God announced, through the prophet, that Israel will be restored to her land in blessing under the leadership of “David, My servant [who] shall be king over them” (Ezekiel 37:24), clearly a reference to the future under Jesus Christ the Messiah, descendant of David (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6–7; Luke 1:31–33). However, this promise seemed impossible in light of Israel’s present condition. She was “dead” as a nation, deprived of her land, her king, and her temple. She had been divided and dispersed for so long that unification and restoration seemed impossible. So God gave Ezekiel the vision of the dry bones as sign.

God transported Ezekiel—probably not literally, but in a vision—to a valley full of dry bones and directed him to speak to the bones. Ezekiel was to tell the bones that God would make breath enter the bones and they would come to life, just as in the creation of man when He breathed life into Adam (Genesis 2:7). Ezekiel obeyed, the bones came together, flesh developed, skin covered the flesh, breath entered the bodies, and they stood up in a vast army. This vision symbolized the whole house of Israel that was then in captivity. Like unburied skeletons, the people were in a state of living death, pining away with no end to their judgment in sight. They thought their hope was gone and they were cut off forever. The surviving Israelite's felt their national hopes had been dashed and the nation had died in the flames of Babylon’s attack with no hope of resurrection.

The reviving of the dry bones signified God’s plan for Israel’s future national restoration. The vision also, and most importantly, showed that Israel’s new life depended on God’s power and not the circumstances of the people. Putting “breath” by God’s Spirit into the bones showed that God would not only restore them physically but also spiritually. The Israelite's residing in the Holy Land today are not the fulfillment of this prophecy. It will be fulfilled when God re-gathers believing Israelite's to the land (Jeremiah 31:33; 33:14–16) and Christ returns to establish His Millennial Kingdom (Matthew 24:30–31).

My last question to you is this are you going to allow God to revive you or have you just got comfortable laying in the Valley of Dry Bones?

Eschatology in the old testament is based on the old adage from the word, first the natural then the spiritual. Every prophesy in the old testament is not tied or about the Jewish people. If so then we must then say that those of us who are gentile have no direction or insight given to us in old testament prophesy, make sense? The church can get more like the valley of dead bones, but not much more in my opinion. Thank the Lord he is not judging us right now based on the heresy and flesh in our churches. Mine possibly more than any other, the pentecostals. I know someone who had this vision and the call to bring them back to life was said to be by four who prophesied over the earth. Not just to attach the lost, like the jews and the muslims, but to raise up from the dead, those who call themselves Christians. Please consider carefully, blessings Oskar Abley

We had this sermon this morning actually. Are we prophesying to the bones of lives, or are we just looking at them wondering what God is going to do about it?
