When it comes tattoo trends, we’ve seen a lot of new innovations pop up over the past few months. People are experimenting with everything from glow-in-the-dark to white ink. And as far as temporary goes, Flash Tattoos continue to come out with the coolest collections. Just when we thought there wasn’t any possible new territory in the tat department, the tattoo artist who goes by Winston the Whale introduced the world to 3D tattooing.

According to the Huffington Post, Dave was taking up stick ’n’ poke tattooing when one customer asked if he could be tattooed in red and blue ink, like a 3D image. Once his followers saw his 3D creations, everyone wanted one.

While looking at the body art, you might think you’re seeing a special effect straight of the movies, but these emblems aren’t actually activated by 3D glasses. “Unfortunately there are several factors to making an anaglyph image effective and the contour of the body, skin tone, color overlap, etc. that negate the actual anaglyph 3D effect,” he told HuffPo.

While it may not be the total 3D experience, we have to admit these are definitely cool enough to start a trend.
