Grammy-winning duo For King & Country penned “Priceless” the book, a novel meant to raise awareness about human trafficking, and wrote, produced and starred in “Priceless” the movie.

Grammy-winning duo For King & Country have spent more than two years working on their new movie, “Priceless,” which will debut in theaters Oct. 14. However, their novel based on the movie is available now.

Written with Nancy Rue and For King & Country members Joel and Luke Smallbone, the book “Priceless: She’s Worth Fighting For” features the same characters as the movie but delves deeper into the characters and “priceless” culture the duo has spent years cultivating at concerts.

“It’s the sentiment that we’ve shared live about celebrating a woman’s worth and charging us as men to be chivalrous in how we love,” Joel Smallbone said of the idea of priceless. For King & Country also has a song called “Priceless.”

The Smallbones combined their convictions of how women should be treated with true stories inspired by documentaries about women who have suffered through horrific, devaluing circumstances. The result is a gritty plot that twists through human trafficking for an arching storyline that encompasses the love between a father and daughter, two sisters and finally a man and woman.

“What’s the opposite of something that’s priceless?” Luke Smallbone asked. “Something that has a price attached to it. And the message we’re trying to tell people is that you are absolutely worthwhile. You’ve got a beautiful soul. You are priceless. This story helps illustrate that.”

“Priceless: She’s Worth Fighting For” is in stores now. “Priceless” the movie, which stars Joel Smallbone, will be in theaters Oct. 14.

“People are like, ‘Do you read the book before the movie?’ Absolutely,” Luke Smallbone said. “You’re going to want to see how this plays out in theaters.”
