About Park

  • Preview

The visitor can admire the garden as it was in the early twentieth century

In 1893, Albert Kahn moved to Boulogne-sur-Seine where he rented a mansion at 6 quai du 4-Septembre. In 1895, he acquired the house and 4 parcels of land. He then undertakes the construction of his garden. In 1920, after having collected a total of 23 plots, Albert Kahn has a garden of nearly 4 hectares.

True to his interest in the diversity of cultures, man chose a particular kind of garden in the nineteenth century: the "park scenes". The landscaped complex that he has done landscaping consists of a French garden completed by a rose garden and an orchard, an English garden, a blue forest and a marsh followed by a golden forest and a meadow , a Japanese village, and finally a Vosges forest.
