Supermodel Bar Refaeli Arrested on Suspicion of Tax Evasion in Israel

Supermodel Bar Refaeli, Maxim's hottest woman in the world of 2012, and her mother were arrested in Israel on Wednesday on charges of tax evasion, Agence France-Presse reports.

Refaeli's home was raided and she was taken into custody on the orders of Israel's Tax Authority. She is suspected of failing to report the equivalent of millions of U.S. dollars in income earned outside of Israel. Israeli nonresident citizens are exempt from reporting income from outside the country, so she allegedly lied about her permanent residence, claiming she lived in another country when really she was living in Tel Aviv. Her mother Zipora was also arrested on suspicion of tax evasion.

She's also charged with accepting gifts of luxury apartments and vehicles and not registering under her name.

This is not the first time Leonardo DiCaprio's ex-girlfriend has been accused of evading something: She avoided mandatory military service by entering a brief alleged sham marriage in 2004.
