Inside Christina Aguileras Beauty Regimen

Christina Aguilera knows what it takes to get ready–for anything. A photoshoot, the red carpet, a sold-out arena. And in doing so, the multi-hyphenate superstar has built a beauty regimen that works for her; she knows what she likes, and she knows when to listen to her body. Between long nights performing in front of adoring fans, long red carpets and long flights to the next show, Aguilera has a beauty regimen that helps her get ready for every day, whatever it may bring. Here’s how she does it.

“Maintaining a healthy skin regimen makes life a little easier when you know how to take care of yourself,” she says. “You have to find things that work for you, as everyone is different. Sometimes it’s a matter of trial and error, but there are great things out there that help ease stress about how you look and feel.”

When the award-winning singer finds herself on the road—where she has spent over two decades since releasing her acclaimed and octuple-platinum selling self-titled record in 1999—she has a few trusted tricks that keep her fresh, happy, and ready for anything.

“Travel can be brutal and dehydrating,” she says. “An ice bath for your face can be a treat, and it can help puffiness and stress from long hours and demanding schedules. It can also help rejuvenate your skin and perk up your mental state!”

When it comes to long flights—something Aguilera is no stranger to, having just played two nights in Santiago, Chile—she never travels without a mask. “A silky sleep mask is a must for comfort on planes,” she says. But it’s bagging those Z’s, even on an international flight, that matters. “Proper sleep is important even though it’s hard to get,” she explains. When she finally gets to her destination she likes to draw a bath and travels with “scented epsom salts for relaxing baths according to my mood.” Now, that’s self care.

About those sold-out shows across the globe. Aguilera is not in this alone. She has a team she loves and trusts. Her voice—her moneymaker and her instrument—is of paramount importance, and skincare is a very close second.

“Before a show, catering to my voice is the biggest priority to me,” she says. “Of course I credit my glam crew for working to help me out when I have no time to think about my face! I love a good hydrating face moisturizer and a lip moisturizer. A little face massage with tools to get blood flowing [if there’s time]; and I love eye gel patches to cool and energize before a show.”

Aguilera also gets treated with Xeomin, the first FDA-approved double filtered anti-wrinkle injection for frown lines that is free of unnecessary proteins. It's designed that way to reduce the potential for treatment resistance. “Xeomin is part of my skincare regimen for helping me look my best,” Aguilera says. “It only includes the ingredients essential for treating my frown lines. I think it’s important to stay consistent with my regimen, so I consult my doctor about when to get treatments throughout the year to maintain looking my best.”

When it comes to her day-to-day regimen, Aguilera listens to her body and gives it what it needs and craves. “Beauty regimens can change according to how your skin is reacting to environment, stress, travel, and more,” she says. “So I listen to what my skin is telling me. I don’t like to do too much. Who has the time for a zillion steps!”

Head-to-head studies evaluating the relative risk of immunogenicity due to the presence or absence of complexing/unnecessary proteins have not been performed. Individual results may vary.
