Adobe Photoshop CS3....Vista 64-bit

Hello All,
I need your valueable help!!! ive got an Adobe Master Suite Collection CS3 Extended (AMSC CS3 Ext) installed on my computer. I have windows vista ultimate 64-bit OS. Now i very new to this blog so bare with me. If this problem has a solution....kindly someone direct me the right way (THANKS!!)

Anyways all of the programs (within AMSC CS3 Ext) run fine on my computer except (cue dramatic music) Photoshop CS3! Now i dont get an error or any kind of error when i installed the program but when i start the program it does like its going to start up and its loading the tools and stuff but when it gets to "Building TWAIN menu items" it turns a transparent white and says there is a problem and Photoshop cs3 has stopped working and then sadly asks to close the program. See images attached.

So someone please help....what do i do??? Is there any shred of hope left??

First off, a note - this is not a blog, this is a forum, and we'll definitely *bear* with you.

Now that that is out of the way, have you tried running Photoshop with administrative privileges to see if it works / needs to run for the first time with admin level privileges to perform a final setup before it can run?

Have you try uninstall the suite and reinstall it? I know it's a headache to install all the CS suite, especially the Master Collection but that might fix your problem. I ran into a few problem before but after a fresh uninstall and reinstall, they work flawlessly.

Also try this:
Since you said you can launch all the other programs in the suite, go pick one and launch it. Doesn't matter which one you pick. Now go to Help > Update.
This will update all your programs in the Master Collection suite. Which also includes an update for Photoshop 10.0.1. A standard Master Collection comes with Photoshop 10.0.0. So this update fixes various bugs. Let me know if this work.

When trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended Trial on Windows Vista the installation would start and after a second the window would close and disappear.
Adobe has very little on this issue according to Google. But it's once again blogosphere to the rescue. Non other that Rick Brewster of Paint.NET fame had a problem installing it on Vista x64, but his solution works for me on x32 too.

Solution: drop to command line with administrator privileges and run
regsvr32 JScript.DLL
It worked for me!

How to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 on Windows Vista


I did not have this problem, but when I installed CS3 on x64, my problem was Adobe Flash player. It prevented Photoshop from installing. I had to uninstall the player and run a script to purge the .reg files.

You can also use the Flash player uninstaller from Adobe to accomplish that without having to worry about a script....

Oh My goodness, I have this EXACT problem and this is the first time I found anything online about it. Did you ever find out what the problem was?

So, I already removed the flash player, but that didn't work. Was I supposed to do something else with it?

Ummm, as long as you ran it correctly - if you just click the file it won't do anything - you should open a CMD box, find where the file is, and then type in the name of the file, a space, and then /clean:

uninstall_flash_player /clean

I'm also having this same issue. I just uninstalled Flash using the tool given above through a command line with the /clean option.

It did not fix the issue for me. I've also used the regsvr32 for the other problems scene but nothing will allow me to load up photoshop on my pc.

Are there any other ideas people might have to get it working on Vista 64?

Twain driver issue? Uninstall any scanner drivers - reboot - try PS ( to see if it works) again then reinstall the drivers and see if that helps.

I use PS cs3 and Vista X64 and they are compatible and run fine on my system.

Photoshop CS3 and the whole Design Suite run beautifully on my system. Occassionally, Bridge shuts down for no good reason, but that's not so critical...

I am losing hope getting CS3 Extended to run on my system, I have tried the fixes I see here except for reformatting because my os came pre-installed (and like most pre-builts now) and does not have a full install os disk so I can not re-partition my system. Is there anything else that can be tried to get this to work?

I finally purchased the upgrade to CS4 because it supports 64-bit and I haven't had any problems at all. It's a little expensive for the solution but definitely worth it for the headache i had before.

Hi all, new to the forums and stumbled on you guys almost by accident.

Anyway, just replaced my 5yr old laptop to get photoshop cs3. 8G Ram, huge hard drive for photo storage, quad processor, the works. Oh, and Vista Ultimate x64. Tried to register with Adobe and they said my Serial# on the box is bad. I want to get to the Help menu on Ps so I can confirm if it was just mislabeled, but I can't get the program to get up and running. I get a similar window to the first post here, but I don't get the blue window he shows. Just a gray backdrop and the endless spinning of my mouse cursor. I've tried un/reinstalling, running as admin, and running regsvr32.exe on jscript.dll and vbscript.dll. The only thing that has improved is now Ps doesn't automatically go into a Not Responding mode.

I was just going to buy the upgrade to cs4, but I figured I need the cs3 I have to be registered and activated, both of whoch I can't do without the serial key, which I can't get to because I can't open the help menu. Any of this making sense? Anyone out there able to help???
