Saving lives. It's in our blood.

About us

Magen David Adom is Israel’s national paramedic and Red Cross service. A leader in mass-casualty response and in EMS technology, Magen David Adom (MDA) treats and transports nearly 1 million people to hospitals every year, collects, safety tests, and distributes nearly all the blood to Israel’s hospitals, and, through its affiliation with the Red Cross movement, responds to disasters around the world. American Friends of Magen David Adom strives to make MDA one of the best-known causes within the American Jewish community, and among the best-known Israeli organizations in the Christian and American communities in general. Leveraging that brand equity, AFMDA seeks to raise increasing amounts of revenue to support MDA's lifesaving activities in Israel and around the world.

  • A Columbia University student who served as a Magen David Adom EMT called out anti-Israel protesters on college campuses in a radio interview with Fox News' Guy Benson. The 20-year-old medical student, who is referred to as "Ethan," refuted the anti-Zionist and Holocaust-denying rhetoric of many of those causing mayhem on campus. Ethan said that unlike the protesters' claims that Israel is a nefarious force, in his role as an EMT, he treated at least one anti-Israel terrorist, and that most Israelis want to live peacefully alongside ethnic Palestinians. • As Israelis reflect on the last six months, a growing number are choosing to train to be volunteers for Magen David Adom, with a 40% rise in those training in first aid throughout the country. As Israel Channel 13 reports, Amit Mann, the 22-year-old paramedic who was killed saving lives on October 7, has become a source of inspiration for many of these volunteers. New volunteer Ori Tsolman: "I decided to volunteer and take the course and be just a little bit like Amit Mann."

  • Especially during difficult times in Israel, we are thankful to Temple Israel of Charlotte, N.C. for raising $135,000 to sponsor an MDA Life Support Ambulance. The Temple Israel board, along with its spiritual leader, Rabbi Michael Wolk, decided to combine the ambulance dedication with a Family Israel Day. Attended by over 400 people, the April 7 event featured local medics and emergency vehicles, CPR training, a blood mobile for a blood drive, a station for creating personal notecards for Israeli medics, and a special guest physician who volunteered for MDA after October 7. Attendees also enjoyed Israeli food, music, and a bounce house.

  • When Amitai Argaman lost both his legs in battle in Gaza at Beit Hanoun, MDA paramedic Udi Adri fought for Amitai's life while he transported him to hospital by helicopter. This week, Amitai was visiting MDA headquarters in Kiryat Ono when he had the chance to meet Udi for the first time since that life-changing day.

  • When Iran attacked, it was the men and women of Magen David Adom who treated the critically injured young girl and were ready for any eventuality. As MDA Chief of Staff Uri Shacham reminds us, there may be a lull, but things are not back to normal! From rescue vehicles to adequate blood supply, it is now MDA's obligation to make sure Israel is better prepared for disaster. Our donors help make that possible. To learn more, visit www.afmda.org

  • When Gilad Erdan, Israel's ambassador to the UN, spoke at the AFMDA Palm Beach Event last month, he underlined the importance of Magen David Adom's work at this crucial moment for Israel, calling it "the backbone of Israel's resilience." "Today, your support for MDA is not just helping to save lives but is defending Israel's future," he said.
